There are many wonderful actors and artists in TAG’s production Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, and we at The Actors’ Group wish to take a moment to get to know them a bit better!
Meet Ms. Micki Fine who plays Ma Rainey in TAG’s production of Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. Ms. Fine performed in the play AMEN Corner with HAART, and in the 90s she was an extra in George of the Jungle and Godzilla. Ms. Fine is a proud mother, grandmother, great grandmother and she has lived in Hawai’i for more than thirty-five years. Active in her community, Ms. Fine was the owner of Hair Anonymous, the soul restaurant Teddy B’s, and has been a member of the Trinity Missionary Baptist Church for over thirty years.
Ms. Fine finds this play important because the story still rings true today, in our modern times. Further, she is proud to have the opportunity to portray Ma Rainey, a strong woman who is the boss of her life. For Ms. Fine, TAG has been a positive experience since it opens doors to the theatre for patrons and actors alike, bringing to it’s community hopes and dreams.
Come see Ms. Micki Fine in the title role of Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom at TAG from March 6 – 29th, 2015, located at the Brad Powell Theatre. Tickets are available now and can be obtained by going to our web page! Hope to see you there!
